Sorry for the delay in getting this post up with the winner of the "Eavesdropping at the Lake" contest. I know you all were dying to know who won! (Actually, I did receive some phone calls with anxious "when are you going to post?!" comments...sheesh!)
First, a bit of background on our judging here at yogurt & granola. I've heard from other blogging friends that contests are so fun to set up but then it's just too, too hard to choose a winner because you want ALL of your cyber-friends to win. Learning from the experience of those who have gone before me, I recruited my darling husband to be the judge. He was instructed to not visit my site while the contest was open so as to not spoil it by learning the identities of our contestants ahead of time. Being the Eagle Scout that he is, I know that he was true to his word and avoided the site (it's really difficult to not visit, isn't it? You all know, you faithful readers of yogurt & granola...).
Anyway, all entries were pasted into a Word document - sans owner - and Dan read them all this morning over a cup of Cold Season tea (another case of the Boy sharing his germs...) and laughed a big hearty laugh over all of the entries. With much deliberation and hours of reading them over and over (okay, minutes), Dan finally decided on the winning entry:
"Here's the thing...I'm smitten...your great butt...sexy smile...and total acceptance...of my staccato style...speech impediment...have me...totally convinced that...you're the one...for me!"
Uncle Nate of Florida will be receiving the scrum-diddly-umptious bar of Green & Black's organic chocolate via Post in the coming days.
Judge's comments:
"I really appreciated the way that Uncle Nate presented an alternate view in this little snippet of conversation that my wife heard. This thoughtful entry reminds us that things are not always as they seem...even though it was really fun to come up with stupid endings for this woman's remarks. Way to go, Uncle Nate, for teaching us all the lesson of "judge not, lest ye be judged!"
To answer the nagging question in the back of your minds, yes, Uncle Nate truly is Jackson's Uncle. So yes, this contest could seem a bit swayed by nepotism, but what are you going to do about it? I told you Dan was an Eagle Scout and Eagle Scouts never lie...
I digress...we also have a couple of honorable mentions:

Hi Catherine I don't have your email so I thought I would just drop your invitation here. Every second Tuesday of the month a group of us knitters take turn hosting a knit night at our home. This is my night at my home. I think I mentioned this to you but I want to be sure you all know you’re invited. I'll email the directions to my place if you're interested in coming. Big Thanks going out to Y and G!!!!
Jackson's Uncle Nate wants to say thank you for the privilege of winning this prestigous award! Missy and I loved the dark chocolate. A few wondered if my "butt" was a typo. No, not at all. As a matter of fact, it was the "but" that gave me the idea for taking it all in another direction. Instead of saying, "Your nice, but..." I went with, "Your nice, butt..." and the rest is Y and G history!
Thanks again!!!!!
BTW Jackson has the sweetest eyes on the planet!!!
Uncle Nate :)
