I love Neopolitan ice cream. I'm sure I've mentioned that here before. I love its simplicity: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Can't beat it.
That must be why I was drawn to this yarn. They almost got it right by calling one of the two colors "chocolate" but stopped short of neopolitan by calling the other one "nude." Sure looks more like "strawberry" to me. Regardless, throw my skin color in there for a little vanilla and we've got a neopolitan palette.
I'm quite pleased with my new Neopolitan Headband and plan to knit another in the "moss/sage" palette soon. There's no ice cream that I like that matches these colors, so I'll have to think of a different name for that one. 'Course, there IS green tea flavored ice cream. We'll see...
What's that?
Is Jackson walking yet, you ask?
Not officially on his own, but all the time with either Mom's or Dad's hand. He actually "eh, eh, ehs" to take our hand to transport himself from one room to another instead of just crawling on his own. He totally gets it that walking is cooler than crawling and is practicing every chance he gets.
Stairs too. We are NOT allowed to carry him up the stairs anymore, thankyouverymuch. As parents who are deeply concerned with safety in a house with a big, old, wooden staircase, he is NOT allowed to do this alone. But, with a close Parental Spotter bringing up the rear, it's definitely a new form of (slow) exercise for all.
Jack is wearing a pair of overalls that his Uncle Joe wore as a toddler in this photo. What a cool, vintage kid. Well, not exactly, I guess since Uncle Joe is only 15, but it's still cool to have family hand-me-downs for a first-born!
Click here for a week's worth of photos of Jackson: practicing walking, all bundled up in the backpack for a walk outside, and a few weirdo ones at the highchair this morning. I wasn't present when those photos were taken, but apparently there was something funny about Jackson putting a piece of toast on his head and just letting it sit there. Hmm. I'm beginning to wonder just what goes on at these "Jackson & Daddy" breakfasts while I'm in the shower...
Speaking of showers, ask me how mine was today. Go on, ask me!
[waiting...]
It was FANTASTIC, thanks for asking! The yogurt & granola household was banned from showering for three weeks due to a grout/caulk project and let me tell you, washing my hair in the bathtub was getting pretty old. I'm not a water girl, I don't lounge around pools well or in my own bathtub. But showers? Pure heaven. Efficient. Clean. Powerful. Clean. Quick. Did I mention clean? Yep, I could possibly be a shower freak...
I've been knitting like mad this week on a bunch of small projects but since they're for a swap that I just sent out, I have to wait to tell you about them. Drat. Biting my tongue is hard. Stay tuned for cute photos to follow!
Speaking of cute photos, here is a promised photo of my nephew, Tommy. He's just over 4-months old and is such a doll. What a sweetie! He definitely reminds me of my brother, Tom, (his Daddy) sometimes, but he's totally a Momma's Boy in the looks department. That could be Christa's strawberry blonde coming through! Another blue-eyed grandson for Grama...

y&g's Famous Guacamole Recipe. We're dining on some tonight with homemade (storebought) tortilla chips and fresh tamales from the local Mercado. Yum.

oooh, look at Jackson go!! He's doing so well!! Love the overalls too, they only get better with age.
I REALLY like the headband, I need one too! That's just the perfect size and what's better then being nude with chocolate?!! I am SOO copying you!
It's beautiful yarn, I'm thinking I need a headband now...
Great overalls too. I'm also a shower freak: our land-lady came to look at our bathroom last week, in major need of repairs and got funny when I said we showered rather than taking baths, she's a bather. I'd rather a shower any day.
hi! ginny sent me the knitty.com website with the headband on it. i think i might make one too! it looks so easy. also, baby tommy is super cute. he does look a lot like christa.
Great headband! I love the colors and the yarn looks just yummy..I love cotton anyhow.
