The sure-fire way that we comforted Jackson as a wee infant was to sing the song "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him, over and over and over and over. Sometimes we used the hand motions, sometimes we didn't. It always worked though, particularly in the car. He just loved that tune.
We forgot about it as he got older and didn't need the same kind of coddling (it's a whole new game now that he's a toddler!). But the song is on the iPod kid music mix that we play often. The other day I noticed him in the living room listening to his music and doing the hand motions privately to himself. I was floored! We hadn't done the hand motions together in months! Like, six or seven months! Talk about a sponge...
Needless to say, it's become his favorite song once again...and is quite fitting with all of this week's rain.
(If you don't already know the hand motions for this song then a.] you've been living under a rock and b.] they may be difficult to glean from Jackson's dance. His spider doesn't exactly "climb" yet but it's definitely a spider. Use your imagination!)

Awww... My niece just learned the hand motions for this song! Prior to that, she would "twinkle" for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Awww, he is so cute!
Brings back TONS of memories of my mom and me doing this!
He's a genius. I know you already knew that, but c'mon!
Jackson is absolutely adorable!
I love being able to actually see my nephew doing something I've never seen him do over such a long distance....Thank GOD for technology! Love the Itsy Bitsy Spider!!
