Brewing Up a Home Remedy

I'm not one to whine and moan about my ailments online (and don't worry, I'm not going to here) but I will talk about a delicious cure for one dry cough that's been lingering around these parts for much too long. My old friend Meilan shared this recipe online and it's so tasty that I have to share it here too.
I'm not 100% sure that it's going to kick the cough but the ingredients are certainly items for good health in general and it makes a heckuva hot remedy to sip on this cold winter's night. Cheers!

Ginger Brew

8 cups water
2 cups fresh ginger (washed but unpeeled and chopped into 1/2" pieces)
2/3 cup honey (buckwheat if possible)
1/3 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half

mash up:

1 heaping Tablespoon cardamom seeds
1 heaping Tablespoon fennel seeds

Combine all and bring to a boil. Boil covered for 20 minutes, strain and drink.

It came out really sweet so I think it could stand a little less sugar, but it's still an amazing treat. Let's hope it works!

P.S. Do you like my new KitchenAid mixer that Dan put under our Christmas tree? Merry, merry!
