Free Fall Veggies

Wow! Look at our amazing veggies and fruits from our CSA today! Oh the bounty! Oh the beauty!

We are lucky enough to have Melanie and Todd for good friends, as they have agreed to go in on these shares with us for the summer. When they're not busy coordinating the Uptown Chase or taking free falls out of airplanes, that is. This is our first year of doing the CSA thing and we just weren't sure if we could actually eat all of the food each week on our own. This photo is just our share, so you can imagine how much food there was to go around. We love Fridays. CSA day and a day to see our friends! (It can be hard to pin these two down.)

We love Fridays for all of the usual reasons that folks love Fridays too, of course. Including family dinner time. We all went out tonight to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday and as you can see, Jackson thoroughly enjoyed himself. He did *not* have Thai food though, nor did he have carrots! That orange stuff all around his mouth is his favorite: sweet potatoes. We do not risk a new vegetable when out in public...

The thumb-sucking is a new development, but I don't think it's going to last (famous last words?). Sure is cute though!

What a gorgeous CSA delivery! We're interested in starting a CSA program ourselves in the coming years (as we continue to get our farming feet wet), and it's great fun to see what others are doing and receiving. Jackson's sweet potato bliss is definitely shared by Ellis. I have to admit, I usually take a bite or two of his sweet potato chunks when it's his dinner time too. Yum! Becca

CSA's are so great! We've got one this summer too. It's even more fun when the kiddos are older. Little Man loves picking up the veggies each week and usually raids the box right away. This week he ate four raw ears of sweet corn in about a half hour!

Which CSA did you guys join? I wanted to do that this year too, but I totally forgot about it until late May and by that time, all the ones I contacted were full. So, I gave up and decided to just go the farmer's market route this year. I'm going to do it next year, though!
