Shoot the TV

Okay, Jackson Fans: Today is your lucky day! We have the first official professional portrait sitting to share! What?! Copyright laws? Oh, right. My darling husband is reminding me of what those little words all over the proofs mean. It means that I can't share the photos with you. Or can I?

Hmm...

Gentle Readers of yogurt & granola, I present to you, Jackson's Home Photo Shoot:

Hmm...

Now you can see why we went with a professional photographer. He's still a doll, even though his parents can't quite capture the scrunched-up nose smile like the professionals (how do they DO that?).

In other news: we've made a big change to our living room recently. See all of that blank space on top of the cabinet? That's where the TV used to be. We decided to get rid of it. Okay, so it's still in the house. But it's down in the basement on an old upholstered chair, unplugged, with the glass facing in. That sounds kinda sad now that I type that...but there's no room for pity for a machine that has held us captive for too long! It was time to go. Time to not have a big black box to stare at - off or on - in our living room every day. Time to not be slaves to the 10:00 news ("we just keep it for the news, really!"). Time to move on. (If you squint really hard, you may be able to see Jackson's REAL photos splayed out all over the cabinet! But I didn't tell you that...)

This new development in our living room and our lives is admittedly just a temporary thing - we've challenged each other to one month of TV-free living. Day one: we survived. And may actually have grown some brain cells back...

ditto to Eden's sentiment. I can't wait to see how it turns out, I don't see myself ever really being able to accomplish this though

Getting rid of TV was probably the best thing we've done (besides Ellis of course). I have never missed it and feel so much richer without it! Love the blog. LOVE the photos too! Great to read and see your updates. Becca
