Merry Christmas! Thank you to all who participated in the "Christmas Sheep" fundraising campaign here at yogurt & granola. We are grateful for your generosity! With all of our contributions together (almost $300!), Heifer International will be able to purchase 2+ sheep for families in need that will provide warm wool and opportunities for them to change their situations.
While all of this good work is important, we also have the fun business to finish up. Now on to the contest! The names of all of our donors were put into a hat this morning and my dear husband pulled out the winning name. The winner is: Gwyneth! A lovely skein of yarn will be making its way to you very soon. Congratulations, Gwyneth and THANK YOU again to all who donated with us!
Christmas around the y&g household was super fun this year, as it was Little Jackson's very first. (It was also his 11-month birthday so we all know what that means - we're in the one-month countdown to his first birthday! ACK!) Santa brought Jack some pretty awesome wooden toys including a train and some blocks. And while he didn't care much for the whole present-opening-thing (as expected) he did get *really* excited when we helped him open this train. Big time big eyes, excited noises and "get out of the way Mom & Dad, I need to get to my toy!" type of movements. So fun.
We also had a little visitor for Christmas this year and she was covered with feathers. Hedwig the Christmas Chicken stopped by our house for a little while on Christmas Eve on her way to her new home with Tasha + family up north. It's a long story involving a very poorly thought out business gift to one of my husband's co-workers and a search for a proper home for the hen. Farmgirls to the rescue! There were five offers to take her within a few hours, but Tasha was first. Her little girls *love* the bird already and were really excited to take her home. Jack was also mesmerized by Hedwig, though I'm not sure that she was as excited about him...what with the screaming at her and banging on the wire and all. We did hear some clucks though. Made for a very interesting Christmas Eve!
Counting down the days until 2007...have you knit your Caps for the Capital yet?

p.s. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention what Santa Dan brought for me this year...A SWIFT! If you are not a Knitter, then you may be a little puzzled by this gift. ("What's a swift?") But if you are a Knitter, then you know how truly awesome this gift is! Thank you Santa!
p.p.s. He wants you all to know that he bought the yarn winder (birthday gift) and the swift BEFORE reading the Yarn Harlot's post about the perfect gifts for Knitters. Points to him for not needing that extra push! (And no, he's not a regular reader of the YH, he was reading over my shoulder...)
