Uncle Joe died today. He was my husband's great-uncle and lived in the Lake District in England. We visited Dan's family in England during the summer of '05 and I feel so lucky to have been able to see this man in action: on his farm. He was such a sweet man and his loss is already deeply felt all the way over here "across the pond."
We were also very lucky to have been able to host both Uncle Joe and Auntie Dot at our wedding in Minnesota back in '04. Instead of doing the usual "toss the bouquet" deal, we had a dance where the DJ weeded out folks based on length of marriage. The last couple dancing was Auntie Dot & Uncle Joe so they got the bouquet. At the time, it was 46 years of marriage. I guess that means that they were married for 48 or 49 years then? Wow. Auntie Dot is on her own now, but with four sons, one daughter and loads of extended family still living nearby, she'll be well cared for.

So sorry for the sad news. He seems like a wonderful man!
What a wonderful rememberance for the family. He really was a sweet man and I was also so glad to be able to know him for the short amount of time that I did. Prayers that the family over there are comforted and celebrate the long life he had! Every day with our loved ones is a blessing.
So sorry to hear about your sad news. Sending warm thoughts your way.
