Still here...

My cousin Ginny tells me that I need to post more often on my blog these days since she's checking in to see about the baby a lot lately. If I haven't posted, she starts to think I may be at the hospital! I wish. Nope, I'm still here.

But it's still technically early (due date is Friday) so I can't be upset about that. Lots of contractions over the weekend - some so strong that they took my breath away and lasted a full minute - but nothing truly starting yet. I feel kind of like a lawn mower getting started: pull the string, chuggachugga, nope that didn't start it. Pull the string again, chuggachuggachugga. Nope, still didn't take. I can only assume that at some point, one of these contractions will be THE contraction that starts the labor machine and keeps it humming along...and hope that it's soon.

But, in the meantime, we had a fun weekend celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks, lots of play and a rockin' family picnic to end the weekend. Jackson had a love/hate relationship with the fireworks (he really wanted to love them, but they're pretty scary when they're new to you and you're small) but just a pure love/love relationship with the moonwalk that was at my cousin's house today. He was a Boy of Summer 100% tonight, with his skin heavily coated in chlorine from the pool, sunscreen and...sweat. He's in the bath now, and I don't think we'll have any troubles getting him to sleep tonight.
[a little sheepish about the fireworks with Grama]
[downright scared and burrowing into Mom on the walk back to the car]
[jump! jump! jump!]

Stay tuned for baby news...

Maybe soon, then, if you're having contractions. I'm certainly not having any yet! But then, I'm still two weeks from my due date.
