Knitting Time

There has been knitting, even though I don't have a ton of time to do it or to document it lately. I had hoped to have the entire garter stitch yoke of my new sweater done by the end of the weekend, but I guess I'll have to settle for half since it's 9:30 on Sunday night already.
Jackson's new bedsheets inspired me to knit another sweater for him. His beloved "letters and numbers" sheets have the coolest color scheme going on, so I decided that my son needs a stripey sweater with these colors. I don't have a pattern in mind, but am hoping to just wing it with a seamless raglan (top-down) of some kind. (Yeah Knit Picks Wool of the Andes! The yarn for this sweater was less than $20!)
But before I can dig into Jackson's sweater, or even truly get going on mine, I really need to finish Amelia's second pair of stripey pants. Luckily, I've been able to really rock and roll on them for a couple of extended knitting periods this weekend (like, say, 20-30 minute sessions...the new definition of "extended") and am closing in on the top. The stripes on the legs are totally off but I still think they're adorable. And seriously, even if I finish them tomorrow (unlikely), they'll just barely fit her so I have to move. They match her "My Mama's for Obama" t-shirt perfectly!
I still have the "Finish the Christmas Stockings NOW" fever too, but this "medicine" of new yarn has brought the fever down just enough to let me talk myself into finishing the stockings during the month of OCTOBER. Yeah, October. I can do October.

Speaking of October, Jack is going to be a ghost for Halloween. His choice. Sweet! That's about the cheapest Halloween costume I can think of!

And can I just brag about my awesome daughter for a moment? I mean, sure, she's definitely more difficult than her super-easy-going brother and has put us to the test with her absolute disdain for even a slightly damp diaper, loathing of being wet causing bath time to be a howling event for the entire neighborhood to hear, and outright hatred for her carseat which makes each and every ride painful and likely to cause headaches for all passengers in the vehicle. But - and this is a huge BUT - she sleeps all night. She puts herself to sleep at 9:00 p.m. each night (almost on the button) and we don't see the whites of her eyes again (or hear a peep) until 6:30 a.m. the next day. Did you get that?

She puts herself to sleep and stays asleep for over nine hours every night.

I still feel faint each time I utter that phrase, like just acknowledging it will make it stop. Her picky personality is one million times easier to handle by day considering that we all got a chance to rest the night before. Now...why am I awake (and blogging about it) when my baby's sound asleep and I could be too? Given all the projects listed above, you tell me!

Hey...and another bonus...Amelia's hate of being even slightly wet will make her MUCH easier to potty train..trust me on this one!!
I LOVE the yarn for your sweater...I need to order some. Have to decide on a project first..just really like that yarn!! and the colors for Jackson's is wonderful too. I could get in trouble with shopping at knit picks..wonderful stuff!!!

Hm, hates being wet, even in the bath? That sounds like someone I know!

I feel your pain on the car hatred. Gus is the same way. I'm sure it will get better for you guys, and on the upside - he really likes the bus and train!

My youngest was like that.Picky about eating and being wet and almost everything else. But bedtime, she was all over it.When she got older,we would be out somewhere past her bedtime she would cry and say I want to go home and go to bed!Now she's 12 and puts herself to bed promply at 10:00.

I can't believe how much knitting you get done in such a short period of time, I am still working on a vest I started this time last year. My Amelia was always a great sleeper too (still is).
