• Love Jackson's liberal use of the word "beautiful" today:
"Mommy, look at the snow falling from the sky. Isn't it beautiful?"
"Mommy, I think Simon [the cat] is beautiful."
"What a beautiful necklace you have, Mommy."
• Love spending an afternoon making vegetarian chili and honey whole-wheat bread while both of my kids slept for three hours.
• Love the AMC show "Mad Men" (thank you, Netflix), even though I usually feel drunk and like I've smoked two packs of cigarettes after watching an episode (I'm not and I haven't). Dan and I are hooked.
• Love that I found a 2008 model of the Chariot Cougar double bike trailer on MEGA sale at REI today and bought it right there on the phone, to be picked up tonight. We've been hemming and hawing about buying the double ever since we found out we were pregnant last year, since biking is such a huge part of our existence (I don't know why we didn't just get the double right away for Jackson, but that was maybe just too much planning for the new parents back then). These things are not cheap so we tried to find a deal forever. They never come up on Craig's List and rarely show up at consignment shops (except that one time last spring when I bought one at Once Upon a Child only to learn later that night that it was stolen property and I had to return it...grr...). You can imagine my excitement when I found this one for not only less than the price of that stolen-used one, but 70% off retail. It was less than the cost of the single Chariot that we bought two years ago! This Biking Girl is WAY too excited about this. It's only January 9 and I'm already dreaming about biking with both kids.
