love, friday

Love going computer-free for all of today, except for now. Even Moms need reduced screen time every now and then.

Love rediscovering "my" music (the Indigo Girls) and playing it on the iPod in the living room, in the car and in the kitchen all day long. Love telling Jackson about how I used to listen to these songs when I was in college and watching him actually listen to me tell the tales. He kept saying "this is Mommy's music, not Jackson's music."

Love that when the Indigo Girls' song "The Loquat Tree" came on he exclaimed, "This is JACKSON'S MUSIC but it sounds like MOMMY'S MUSIC!" Truly, this is what it's all about. (He and "The Loquat Tree" go waaaaay back.)

Love making Amelia laugh hysterically by singing "chatter! chirp! squeak! buzz!" from "The Loquat Tree" over and over and over.

Love this pose. He was looking out the window until the flash went off...
Love sling closeness with Amelia. I forget to hold her close sometimes now that she's so good at sitting up. Sometimes we still need to be face to face and sometimes she still needs to nap on me. Love this.
Love Baby A's taggie (I didn't pay that much for it...). What is it about babies and tags?
Love getting a spontaneous invitation to our friends' house for pizza and play time for our boys tonight. Such a perfect end to our week!

Love Cherry Brook Kitchen peanut-free brownies that I found at Target this week. This brownie mix is seriously the best brownie mix I've EVER come across and you can't even tell that it's "missing" things. Their products are peanut/tree nut-free, dairy-free, egg-free and some are gluten-free too. They are very clear about using a dedicated facility that is free of these allergens and regularly test their batches for trace amounts. Love finding this "safe" convenience baking item, especially since Jackson's peanut/tree-nut re-test this week came back uber-positive.

Love the February Thaw even though I know it won't last and I don't like talking about the weather. It's nice to just wear a fleece outside for a few days!

love, friday

"The Loquat Tree" by the Indigo Girls

out in the back by the grape stake fence
is a place where nature makes so much sense
all the creatures livin' in harmony
it's a wild wild party in the loquat tree

fuzzies and furries run walk or fly
havin' a feast beneath a clear blue sky
animals comin' from miles around
to bounce the branch and shake the loquat down

the squirrel and the sparrow and the mouse and the bee
all havin' a party in the loquat tree
eatin' all the yellow fruit they can see
it's a wild wild party in the loquat tree

peckin' at 'em pickin' at 'em hidin' 'em away
savin' 'em up for a rainy day
no matter how big no matter how small
there's more than enough there's plenty for all

the squirrel and the sparrow and the mouse and the bee
all havin' a party in the loquat tree
eatin' all the yellow fruit they can see
it's a wild wild party in the loquat tree

chatter chirp squeak buzz
chatter chirp squeak buzz
chatter chirp squeak buzz
chatter chirp squeak buzz

every little loquat holds the seed
for a brand-new baby loquat tree
one o' these seeds may find its way
to a place in the sun and then someday

the squirrel and the sparrow and the mouse and the bee
all havin' a party in the loquat tree
eatin' all the yellow fruit they can see
it's a wild wild party in the loquat tree
