Yep. Looks like Jackson's peanut allergy was not just a figment of my imagination. The doctor said to give it another go, just to make sure and well...there's the rash, plain as day. Red with white dots and very blotchy.
Luckily, there were no other symptoms and he wasn't bothered by the rash at all so it's likely a very mild allergy. Still. Peanut Butter? Really? What a drag. Off to the allergist we go!
*The rash wasn't causing the expression in the photo, so don't worry, he really was not bothered in the slightest. Wouldn't you be weirded out if your mom got all up in your face to photograph your rash while you were still eating your lunch?

Oh, looks a lot like when Endre gets milk or egg (something he don't after he ended up in hospital 5 months old). But he itches and the rash swells in and around his mouth if he eats something by a mishap... Have a great day :) Hopefully they'll grow ir off!
yes, hopefully he will grow out of it. I know my friend Michele's son Devin was allergic to a lot as a baby and she treated him homeopathically and he is no longer allergic to anything! Including peanuts.
Remember how we used to torment Andy Hall?
hang in there-Mis :)
Oh no! Gosh, peanut butter is a critial staple of my diet - I would be in SO much trouble..
This looks just like the rash Dan used to get all over his face and body after a few to many Ciders!! HA!
Uncle Rob
childhood without PB & J??? what is this world coming to??? next thing you are going to tell me he doesn't like orange juice:)
Oh no...thats a hard one to be allergic to! Poor little guy!!
Hi - I'm a mom of a PA child who surfed in via google allerts. I also thought my son had a "mild" peanut allergy (he only experienced redness and a little cough) until the day we had to rush him to the emergency room because he couldn't breathe.
Now I know that most allergists will say that there's no such thing as a mild peanut allergy - a large percentage of deaths were people who had never had a "serious" reaction in the past.
Don't mean to freak you out, but I don't want anyone to learn the hard way like I did!
Two good websites:
www.foodallergy.org - excellent organization for learning about allergies in general
www.peanutallergy.com - good message boards for families dealing with PA (as with any message board you have to figure out which posts you agree with).
OH NO!!! I LOVE Peanut Butter....hmmmm maybe there's hope as he gets older because peanut butter is soooo good.
Two of my kids have deadly peanut allergies. Just wanted you to know there is a great substitute -- Soy Nut Butter. Whole Foods has it. There is one sweetened with honey and one not sweetened. And also smooth and chunky. The brand is "I.M. Healthy" We love it! The pic of Jackson's rash makes me think of "contact dermititis" (i think i spelled that correctly?) which means the allergy is when the allergic item is in contact with the skin. Which is probably an allergy he would grow out of.
C~ As a food allergy sufferer, I know how hard it is! Two of my kids have food allergies too!
Please be aware that each reaction is much worse than the last!
Try some SunButter, it is made from sunflower seeds and so good!

OH, remember this: if you are nursing still, no PBJ's for mom either!
