Noah's Mittens (written by Lise Lunge-Larsen and illustrated by Matthew Trueman) is a fun look at how felt is made. As Noah is caring for the animals in the worst of conditions on the Ark, he discovers that the sheep have felted themselves with all of the rocking and rubbing against each other in the hot and humid boat. When they land on Mt. Ararat in Turkey and discover snow (God tells Noah that he made it for them because they need to play more...), Noah has an ingenious idea to make mittens from the felt... A perfect tale for our Unitarian-Universalist family with a Knitting Momma!
Three Bags Full (written by Ragnhild Scamell and illustrated by Sally Hobson) is a story about a sheep named Millie who is too generous with her wool when all of the other animals need bedding and nest materials. She ends up giving it all away and finds herself without any wool to keep herself warm. Her shepherd lets her in for the night and knits her a bright green sweater with hearts and flowers to keep her warm. When the sweater starts to unravel and a little bird asks for a piece of the yarn, Millie says "sure!" and willingly starts sharing again...
And then there's Knitting Nell (written and illustrated by Julie Jersild Roth). I'm sure I've mentioned Knitting Nell before as this book was written by a local author who I had the pleasure of meeting last fall. Nell knits and knits and knits but is very shy. She learns to come out of her shell when a "small, unexpected moment in the limelight changes her life." A charming tale.All of these books are beautifully illustrated. I highly recommend them for children and Knitters of all ages!

I'm quite a fan of children's literature. My all-time favorites are Nancy Shaw's "Sheep in a Jeep" & "Racoon 'Tune" (great for pre-readers, lotsa rhymes)-- and "Math Curse" by Jon Sciezka is a must.

Have to hunt these out for the Munchkins! They look great - and I so envy you your knitting retreat! My princess has been sick and is currently convalescent and whingy - would love to be knitting on a lake!
oH I just love all these..and The sheep books too.. Sheep in a Jeep, Sheep out to EAt, Sheep in a Ship, etc. And have you read How to Spin a Rabbit? Or The Goat in the Rug? Wonderful..more spinning and weaving there but still fiber...and great illustrations too. I LOVE children's books!

I just read Knitting Nell to my students yesterday and really enjoyed it.
Those look great - I'll have to add them to the list for my niece.
